Noel Wax has been named Vice President of Sports Sales for CBS RADIO, one of the largest and most diverse major-market operators in the United States. The appointment was made today by Michael Weiss, President of Sales for CBS RADIO, and is effective beginning Monday, July 28.
Wax most recently served as Director of Sales for CBS RADIO’s New York sports properties, a title he held for nearly six years. In his new role he will handle sales for all of the Company’s play-by-play rights which includes more than 25 of the nation’s leading sports teams amongst the MLB, the NFL, the NBA, the WNBA and the NHL, such as the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Chicago White Sox, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Chicago Bears and the Detroit Red Wings. He will be based in Los Angeles.
“Noel is a leader in the sports sales marketplace with an accomplished resume of achievements and the acumen to successfully develop and grow business,” said Weiss. “He has done an incredible job managing Yankees and Mets sales for our New York stations creating a number of unique promotions and client opportunities, in addition to cultivating relationships with advertisers who’ve previously never used radio in their advertising mix. Now he’ll be able to take those skills and apply it to an even bigger playing field of CBS RADIO assets.”
In his previous position Wax was responsible for all aspects surrounding the advertising sales of the five local area teams broadcast on CBS RADIO stations in the New York area, including managing a large sales team and negotiating multi-media sports sponsorship agreements and client deals. The four years prior to that, Wax worked as Director of Sales for CBS RADIO’s San Francisco market where he oversaw group sales and launched and managed the Oakland A’s radio sales efforts. Prior to his time with CBS RADIO, Wax worked as an Account Executive for KNBR.
Wax began his career as the owner and manager for Dining In Style, a business he built while attending UC Santa Barbara, the university in which he was graduated from in 1993. Upon graduation, he sold Dining In Style and moved on to become a client services manager for World Cup Soccer, where he coordinated conferences and sponsors and served as a liaison between a variety of sports broadcasters both in the U.S. and overseas.
