BILL MACATEE

(CBS Sports Broadcaster, NFL, U.S. Open Tennis, Golf)

Bill Macatee joined CBS Sports in 1995 and continues to play a major role as an announcer not only for CBS Sports' golf coverage, including the Masters? and the PGA Championship, but also for the NFL, the U.S. Open Tennis Championships and a variety of CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR events, including skiing and the ATP Tennis Tour. He served as the weekend daytime co-host of the 1998 Olympic Winter Games on CBS and play-by-play announcer for college basketball.

Macatee began his network sportscasting career with NBC in 1982 at the age of 26. He covered a variety of major events, including the World Series, the Super Bowl, Wimbledon and various college bowl games. He also spent four years as host of NBC's Major League Baseball Game of the Week pre-game show, as well as pre-game host of NBC's coverage of Major League Baseball's League Championship Series.

During his time at NBC, Macatee also served as the sports correspondent for "The Today Show" and as sports anchor for "NBC News at Sunrise" and "Sunday Today." Later, he co-anchored the syndicated show "USA Today on TV."

Since 1990, Macatee has anchored coverage of the PGA TOUR on the USA Network. He has hosted the opening rounds of the Masters since 1990 and the Ryder Cup since 1991. His other duties for the USA Network included play-by-play for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, the French Open, figure skating, boxing and other selected sports specials.

Macatee earned a bachelor of science degree from Lamar University. He was born Nov. 17, 1955, in Rome, N.Y., and lives in Newport Beach, Calif., with his daughter, Caitlin.
