New York, NY – June 27, 2023– Culture’s biggest night, the "BET Awards" 2023, remains the undisputed #1 cable award show among P 18-49 for the 2023 broadcast season. Celebrating 50 years of hip hop and uniting old school and new school, the LIVE award show was a non-stop hip hop party featuring an incredible lineup of performers. “BET Awards" 2023 premiered Sunday, June 25, and drew 2.8 MM Total Viewers P2+ (EDAC), simulcast LIVE across nine Paramount networks, including BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Pop, Nick at Nite, TV Land, and VH1, up +2% vs last year in ratings. 1.8 MM Total Viewers P2+ viewed on BET alone.* Culture’s biggest night was the ultimate celebration of hip hop diversity, expansion and global impact. BET now holds the Top 2 Cable award shows of 2023 for Black viewers (“BET Awards” 2023 (#1) and “NAACP Image Awards” (#2).*  

The premiere milestone celebration of the culture delivered viral moments that captivated audiences across platforms, ranking as the #1 Most Social TV Show. “BET Awards” 2023 was the #1 most-watched TV show on social with +104% growth year-over-year, and 6M social interactions.** #BETAwards trended on Twitter in the #1 spot consecutively for 6+ hours worldwide.  Total digital views are up +23% year-over-year to date (social + O&O). ***

Kaliii and “BET Awards'' 2023 nominee Lola Brooke performed on the BET Amplified stage. Patti LaBelle delivered a breathtaking performance of “The Best” in tribute to the late powerhouse Tina Turner. Busta Rhymes was honored with this year’s Lifetime Achievement BET Award, in recognition of his prolific 30-plus-year career and impact as a rapper, an MC, songwriter, and record producer. After being introduced by Marlon Wayans and Swizz Beatz, Busta received a standing ovation as he accepted the well-deserved award. After accepting the award, he performed a medley of dancehall and New York-inspired hits with an all-star line-up including Bia, Coi Leray, Cutty Ranks, Dexta Daps, M.O.P., Patra, Rah Digga, Scar Lip, Spice, Super Cat, and Swizz Beatz.
