BET EARNS 2026 PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS

The Ms. Pat Show and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living Recognized Among the Nominees for the 78th Primetime Emmy® Awards

LOS ANGELES, CA – July 9, 2026 – BET celebrates multiple 2026 Primetime Emmy® Award nominations across its comedy slate, with recognition for BET original The Ms. Pat Show, now on Paramount+, and BET's Tyler Perry's Assisted Living among the nominees announced by the Television Academy for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Ms. Pat Show earned a nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, recognizing Mary Lou Belli for the Season 5 episode "Give It Arrest." The nomination marks Belli's fourth Primetime Emmy nomination for directing the series, following recognition in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Tyler Perry's Assisted Living earned a nomination for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Multi-Camera Comedy Series for the episode "A Rolling Stone."

"These nominations reflect what BET has always stood for — bold, authentic storytelling that speaks to our community and resonates far beyond it," said Louis Carr, President, BET. "Congratulations to the entire Ms. Pat Show and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living teams. To be recognized at the highest level of our industry is a testament to the artistry our creators bring to the screen, and to the culture that powers everything we do."

The Ms. Pat Show, created by Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams-Lee and Jordan E. Cooper, follows a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom, drawn from Williams' memoir Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. The series is produced by Imagine Entertainment, Lee Daniels Entertainment, DAE Light Media, and Cookout Entertainment. A BET original, The Ms. Pat Show now streams on Paramount+.

Created, written, and produced by Tyler Perry, Tyler Perry's Assisted Living follows Jeremy (Na'im Lynn), who moves his young family to the backwoods of Georgia after losing his job to help his grandfather, Vinny (J. Anthony Brown), keep a run-down assisted living facility afloat — with comedy ensuing when Mr. Brown (David Mann) and Cora (Tamela Mann) turn up as unlikely investors. The series airs on BET.

The recognition underscores BET's enduring commitment to comedy as a cornerstone of its programming. For decades, the network has been a home for Black comedic voices — from the stand-up showcases that introduced generations of talent to audiences nationwide, to the multi-camera sitcom tradition that remains a signature of BET today. That investment continues to grow: on June 30, BET launched Comedy Fun Night, a weekly Tuesday comedy destination anchored by two new premieres — ComicView: Rooftop Series, a revival of the landmark stand-up franchise hosted by Chris "CP" Powell and staged from a Hollywood rooftop, and Lot Patrol, a new sitcom following a crew of security guards on the backlot of a major Hollywood studio. Alongside its long-running Tyler Perry comedy partnership — including Tyler Perry's Assisted Living and Tyler Perry's House of Payne — and dedicated FAST channels such as BET Tyler Perry Comedy and BET Comedy Movies, BET's comedy slate spans every register of the genre. With The Ms. Pat Show and Tyler Perry's Assisted Living now recognized by the Television Academy, BET continues to prove that comedy rooted in the Black experience belongs at the center of the cultural conversation — and on its biggest stages.
