Network Continues to Expand Talent Roster with Sherree Burruss Joining as Anchor
Jan. 9, 2020 – CBS Sports HQ, the 24/7 streaming sports news network available for free across digital platforms, delivered triple-digit viewership growth in 2019.
For the full year, CBS Sports HQ was up 112% in streams and 196% in total streaming minutes compared to 2018. December is now the second biggest month (after February 2019) for time spent, with more than 125 million minutes streamed. On OTT platforms, unique viewers grew by 171% year-over-year in 2019, and watched for an average of 35 minutes per session in December. CBS Sports HQ’s audience has a median age of 35.
“We’re thrilled with CBS Sports HQ’s tremendous viewership growth in its second year since launch,” said Jeffrey Gerttula, EVP and General Manager, CBS Sports Digital. “The network made significant strides in 2019 to drive this sustained audience growth and engagement, from the underlying technology to production to the content flow and building out a talented group of anchors and analysts. We look forward to continued success as we tackle another ambitious roadmap in 2020.”
CBS Sports HQ also continues to expand its talent roster, adding Sherree Burruss as an anchor beginning this week. Burruss, who will serve as a host and reporter for CBS Sports Network in addition to anchoring CBS Sports HQ, joins from NBC 4 Washington (WRC) where she was the lead anchor and reporter, covering the Capitals, Redskins, Wizards and Nationals. Additionally, Burruss served as the host of the preview show “Redskins Showtime” and was the network’s AFL sideline reporter. Prior to NBC 4, she was at WGCL-TV in Atlanta, and also spent time reporting for KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012.
