Richard Fierro on What Happened the Night of the Colorado Springs Shooting

https://workspace.cimediacloud.com/r/DMdCak2R1NY8

Richard: We all were having a great time. It was just amazing and then as we’re sitting there, it’s me, Jess, my daughter, Raymond, Joanne and Chip, and that’s my Colorado family. I’m born and raised in San Diego but in Colorado that’s my family and we’re just watching the show having a great time, we’re all dancing, and I heard the gunfire, and for me it’s kind of a thing that I can recognize, it wasn’t music to me. I turned my shoulder and saw the flashes of the muzzle. I took cover, pushing what I thought was Chip or Chip was pushing Joanne, I don’t know, we all dove to the ground, and as I tried to get back up I fell into kind of a couch like this, it’s against the wall, and I looked straight across and all I saw was the body armor and the back of someone looking into a patio and everybody was in this patio. I saw the people because it was glass, so I ran across the room to grab him and he was already engaged with Thomas, like they were already fighting and we were fighting, just fighting, and a some point he had his pistol and I grabbed that from him and I used that as a weapon to keep him down. It’s violent and it’s not pretty. I signed up for this in the army. I didn’t sign up for my wife and daughter and all those people in that room to go through that so for me it’s very powerful for everyone in there to understand that we are now all a combat family and that’s kind of what you learn as a vet doing it so many times that it’s not something you can just get over. It’s gonna be forever.

Jess on How Her Daughter Is Coping With the Loss of Her Longtime Boyfriend

https://workspace.cimediacloud.com/r/Bf0KtGYyEdX0

Jess: After everything ensued, we got to meet back up in the parking lot and it wasn’t until the following day when we realized that Raymond did not make it.

Drew: And Raymond is Kassie’s boyfriend and they met in junior high?

Jess: Yes.

Drew: They have been together ever since right?

Jess: Yes.

Drew: How is she dealing with this?

Jess: I think that right now, she just had her surgery a couple days ago but we’re so blessed to still have each other and I think she just kind of holds solace in the fact that it was such a great night, it was an unusually beautiful night that we were all having, and Raymond was just kind of out of his shell and buying drinks and having a good time and I think that’s what she holds on to.

Rich on Helping The Two Victims Chip and Joanna Connect While Injured

Richard: We were lucky. I don’t know how, I mean people around me were injured, my best friends were shot multiple times and this is the story I wanted to bring up…Once I finished over there with this guy, I went over to see where my family was seated and all I saw was Joanne on the floor and seeing her, it was gruesome, but she looked up and I looked at her and I kept telling her, ‘Look in my eyes stay with me,’ because I just went back into combat mode, like take care of that person in front of you. One of the cops came in and I was like, ‘Put a tourniquet on her arm right now. Put a tourniquet on her arm, put a tourniquet on her leg,’ and then I helped put another tourniquet on her arm and Chip was right there, her husband, and he reached for her, and he was shot as well, he reached for her and she couldn’t move her arm. I saw his hand reach for her, and we both looked at her and didn’t think she was gonna make it. So I put her hand in his hand so that they both had that moment and that’s what I think was love right? That’s love. That to me was like beyond all this hero crap that’s what’s important. Nothing else.

Meghan Trainor on the Side-by-Side Toilets Her and Husband Have

https://workspace.cimediacloud.com/r/C7z6SVaGuc8Z

Ross: You and your husband having side-by-side toilets?

Meghan: Yes.

Ross: So that’s real?

Meghan: That’s real. The best part about my house. I love it…

Drew: You also have to custom install that.

Megan: Yes.

Drew: See the designer in me also wants to know like how does it work?

Meghan:…So I was doing construction anyways and I had an extra toilet and I was like, ‘Sir plumber, pop it in,’…I don’t like being alone. I’m codependent.

Ross: Is it just the one number that you do a side by side with, is that?

Meghan: Yes, cause he’s violent.

Drew:…Does he stand while you sit and then you talk to each other?

Meghan: He’s a sitter…and then we hold hands.

Drew on Her Holiday Traditions with Her Daughters

https://workspace.cimediacloud.com/r/gu0UqHfXWnXD

Ross: Do you and the girls do anything super cute that’s just you on the holidays, a tradition?

Drew: I travel with them. We take like a trip every Christmas and I’m sort of like mapping it out and trying to build memories and experiences, but I’m sure they’d love a present under the tree and that I kind of fail at so maybe this Christmas, I don’t know, I’ve just been like I want to take you somewhere, that’s a Christmas present.
