KASIA SMUTNIAK

Nina Morgan in “Devils”

Kasia Smutniak stars as Nina Morgan, Dominic’s (Patrick Dempsey) wife, in the series “Devils” on The CW. She is a worldly woman, from an aristocratic family, still beautiful. The death of her and Dominic’s son John cast a grim shadow over their once happy marriage, as she blames Dominic for John’s death. She hides a morbid love for Massimo, about whom she feels more than filial affection. Her grief has made her a woman capable of the most irrational acts to preserve what is left: as her husband’s enemies threaten to ruin their life, Nina will help Dominic in the most extreme ways, discovering with him once again their love and complicity.

An international award-winning actress, Smutniak is the proud founder of the Pietro Taricone Onlus, a non-profit organization that operates in Nepal, where it built and runs the Ghami Solar School in Mustang, with the mission of preserving the region’s cultural heritage.

She was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1979 into a military family and inherited from her father the passion for flying. At the age of only 16 she completed and withheld her pilot’s license. At the same age she was also scouted as a model and shortly afterwards, moved to Italy.

In 2000, at the age of 21, Smutniak made her big screen debut and from that moment onwards continued building her acting career in various movies and quality television dramas. In 2008, she received her first award, the Globo d’Oro for “Best female debut of the year” for the movie “Nelle Tue Mani” by Peter Del Monte. That accolade led to her first European “Nastro d’Argento” award.

She then played major roles in several successful TV series including “In Treatment” (the Italian version of the popular US drama) directed by Saverio Costanzo (also director of the television series “My Brilliant Friend”), and starred in various Italian award-winning movies such as “Allacciate le Cinture” by Ferzan Ozpetek, “Perfetti Sconosciuti” by Paolo Genovese and “Husband and Wife” by Simone Godano.

In 2018 she won another “Nastro d’Argento” award for best supporting actress in “Loro 1” and “Loro 2,” directed by Oscar winning director Paolo Sorrentino.

In 2019, Smutniak starred in the movies “Dolce Fine Giornata” by Jacek Borcuch with Krystyna Janda, and “Nieznajomi” by Tadeusz Sliwa with Tomasz Kot and Maja Ostaszewska.

Smutniak is currently filming the SKY series “Domina,” with the lead direction of Claire McCarthy (Ophelia, The Luminaries) and an international cast including Liam Cunningham (“Game of Thrones”), Isabella Rossellini (“Blue Velvet”, “Death Becomes Her”) and Matthew McNulty (“Misfits”) to be released in 2021.
