Perdita Weeks

British actress Perdita Weeks may be best known from her time spent playing the fearsome Catriona Hartdegan in SHOWTIME’s Emmy Award-winning “Penny Dreadful” and as Mary Boleyn in “The Tudors.” Recently, she starred in Steven Spielberg’s feature film “Ready Player One” and the Ralph Fiennes-directed “The Invisible Woman.”

Weeks was born in Cardiff, Wales and raised in the English countryside with her sister, Honeysuckle, and younger brother, Rollo, who are also actors. After all three were spotted at a young age by a prominent children’s agent, Weeks’ first job was starring in a detergent commercial with her brother. Later, she followed her sister on a performing arts scholarship to Roedean, a private girls’ school in the south of England, and then went on to study art history at the prestigious Courtauld Institute in London with a mind to leave acting and become an art curator.

Drama called once more though, when Weeks was cast to play a young Renee Zellweger in “Miss Potter,” the biopic of Beatrice Potter. Although her portrayal was left on the cutting room floor, the acting bug once more took hold, and at 20 she left university to pick up her career where she left off.

Her natural athleticism has drawn her in recent years to more physical roles, including the thriller/horror film “As Above So Below,” in which she played an urban archaeologist traversing the Parisian catacombs on a quest for redemption.

Currently, Weeks resides in England when not filming. Her birthday is Dec. 25. Weeks can be followed on Twitter @PerditaWeeks and Instagram @Perdita_Weeks.
