CBS NEWS AND STATIONS WILL DELIVER LIVE MULTIPLATFORM COVERAGE FOR NASA’S HISTORIC ARTEMIS I MISSION LAUNCH

New “CBS Reports” Documentary Delving Into America’s Next Great Leap in Space Exploration Premieres Sunday, August 28 on CBS News Streaming

CBS News and Stations will provide comprehensive special coverage of NASA’s historic launch of Artemis I Monday, August 29, on all broadcasts and platforms, including a CBS News Special Report when the launch happens Monday morning. The CBS News Streaming Network will debut a new CBS REPORTS documentary, in addition to coverage on CBS MORNINGS, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL, FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN, CBSNews.com, CBS News Radio and CBS Newspath.

CBS MORNINGS co-hosts will lead the live coverage with a CBS News Special Report for the historic launch at approximately 8:33 AM, ET on Monday. CBS News senior national correspondent Mark Strassmann, space consultant Bill Harwood and astronaut Christina Koch will provide reporting and analysis from the launch site at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Strassmann and astronaut Kathleen “Kate” Rubins will preview the launch on FACE THE NATION WITH MARGARET BRENNAN (10:30 AM, ET) Sunday, August 28.

Additional CBS News coverage will include:

  • WFOR-TV, the CBS Station in Miami, will also provide live broadcast coverage for its South Florida audience and streaming coverage. The special coverage will be anchored by CBS 4 anchor Marybel Rodriguez and Keith Jones – they’ll be joined by correspondent Nicole Lauren in Cape Canaveral reporting on those who camped out overnight to witness the launch and CBS News’ Skyler Henry with dispatches from the launch pad. Additionally, meteorologist Lissette Gonzales will be tracking weather conditions, meteorologist Jennifer Correa will report on what NASA needs weather-wise to perform, and chief meteorologist Ivan Cabrera will be using augmented reality technology to give viewers a better glimpse of the powerful rocket. Austin Carter will provide updates on how social media is responding at the very moment.

  • NASA’s launch of Artemis 1 signals America’s intent to return to the moon and beyond. A new CBS REPORTS documentary, ARTEMIS: AMERICA’S NEW MOONSHOT, reveals America’s next great leap in space exploration and the collective will that is required to see it through. The CBS REPORTS documentary premieres on CBS News Streaming, Sunday, August 28 , at 8:00 PM, ET.

  • CBSNews.com will provide live, ongoing coverage of the launch, as well as several articles and explainers from Bill Harwood leading up to the launch. The CBS Special Report and ongoing live coverage will be available on CBSNews.com, YouTube and CBS News’ social channels on Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.

  • CBS Newspath will provide coverage of the historic launch starting Monday morning. Skyler Henry will offer the latest reporting to CBS’ 200+ affiliates nationwide and to broadcasters around the world. CBS-owned stations will also carry CBS News’ coverage across their local platforms.

  • CBS News Radio’s Peter King will anchor the launch live from the Kennedy Space Center, beginning two minutes before liftoff through the duration of its flight into orbit. Astronaut Stan Love will join CBS News Radio’s special coverage to offer insight and analysis. Additionally, CBS News Radio will provide an unanchored feed of the launch and a Special Report at the bottom of the hour following the launch.
