August marked the fourth month of year-over-year demo ratings growth for the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH TONY DOKOUPIL. The broadcast closed out the month up +4% in total viewers and saw increases from July in both total viewers and in the coveted A25-54 demo. On top of that, CBS EVENING NEWS’ A25-54 demo audience grew 16% during the last week of August, the most growth of any evening newscast during that week.

AUGUST RATINGS HIGHLIGHTS

• The CBS EVENING NEWS delivered, on average, 4 million total viewers and 524k in the A25-54 demo for August 2026

  • That is a 4% increase in total viewership compared to August, 2025

  • August 2026 was the strongest viewership for CBS Evening News since this past March

• Compared to July 2026, CBS EVENING NEWS saw a 4% increase among total viewers in August, and a 5% increase in the A25-54 demo.

• During the week of August 24, CBS EVENING NEWS saw a 16% increase in the A25-54 demo compared to the prior week, which was the most growth of any evening newscast in the demo for the week.
