“CBS EVENING NEWS WITH TONY DOKOUPIL” POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR AUDIENCE AND DEMO GROWTH IN MAY

“CBS Evening News” and “CBS Mornings” Notch Growth in May from April

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH TONY DOKOUPIL has delivered four consecutive weeks of year-over-year growth and is up in May over a year ago, according to Nielsen Panel + Big Data statistics for the first four weeks of the ratings period.

The broadcast is up +6% among adults 25-54 and +4% among viewers in May compared to May 2025. CBS EVENING NEWS was also up +7% in A25-54 May over April.

Video views on social platforms for the CBS EVENING NEWS are up +150% from a year ago, and engagement is up +140%. Total watch time is up +164% over last May. TikTok led all social platforms in growth, up +378.5% from a year ago. Additionally, views of CBS EVENING NEWS content on YouTube are up +30% year to year.

For the most recent week, CBS EVENING NEWS delivered over 4 million viewers with 608,000 in the A25-54 demographic, its strongest weekly audience in seven weeks and best in the demo since January.

CBS MORNINGS averaged 1.9 million viewers with 322,000 in the A25-54 demo during the most recent week, up +3 in the demo from last year. It was CBS MORNINGS’ best total audience delivery in 22 weeks.

For May, CBS MORNINGS is up +5% in the A25-54 demo and +3% in viewers compared to April, and is the only network morning show up month to month, bucking the post-Daylight Saving Time trend of audience fragmentation.

Note that this is preliminary, as Nielsen’s May 2026 ratings period is one week longer than last year and includes the week after Memorial Day.
