CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Norah O’Donnell spoke exclusively with British filmmaker Alex Holder today following his private, two-hour deposition before the House committee investigating Jan. 6, 2021.

EXCERPT 1

NORAH O’DONNELL: You interviewed the president twice after Jan. 6. Did he express any remorse?

ALEX HOLDER: I think that people will have to wait to see and find out the answer to that question. I really–I promise I’m not trying to be cute. I just genuinely feel that people might have a different impression about his reaction than I might have.

O’DONNELL: What was staggering about what the former president said after Jan. 6?

HOLDER: I think what was staggering was that he essentially gave the reason why they were there without fully understanding that he was responsible for that reason.

O’DONNELL: You seem to be suggesting that even afterwards, he doesn’t accept any responsibility.

HOLDER: I think that would be a fair conclusion to what I just said. Yes.

EXCERPT 2

O’DONNELL: How did you find the president after you interviewed him after the Jan. 6 assault?

HOLDER: So I interviewed him twice after Jan. 6. And the first time, he did come across as quite irate and quite depressed and frustrated. The second time, which was in Bedminster, in New Jersey, he certainly came across more jovial and content.
