Andrew Rannells & Drew On Workplace Romances

Drew: You got to know someone quite well right?

Andrew: Drew, what are you talking about?

Drew: You had an on-stage romance.

Andrew: It’s called a show-mance. It’s when you fall in love during a show.

Drew: You met your man.

Andrew: We met and I felt like such a lazy actor that I fell in love with my co-star. I was like this is so cliché.

Drew: Where else do you meet somebody when you are stuck for 15 hours a day. That’s why inter-office romance, high school..

Andrew: Also have you seen him? He’s very attractive. What was I supposed to do? Not date him? It was strange. Like the first time we kissed it was for work.

Drew: But you know you were like, ‘Thank God for work today.’ Was it on the call sheet? And you were like, ‘Yes, today is the day.’

Andrew: Totally, yes but it was weird, it was like, Oh we are getting paid to do this.

Drew: I’ve definitely kissed co-stars that I had crushes on and you are really excited for that day of work, you are like, ‘Oh we have that scene today.’ And the best part is I’ve also had that moment where I’m just trying to like feel myself and I look over and someone is just looking so bored and over it and I’m like, ‘Oh no this is so weird.’

Drew & Andrew on Rejection Meals: Filet-O-Fish & Burritos

https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/Mq3IxzVBPEEV

Drew: I love the way you talk about rejection. Rejection for me is related to a filet-o-fish, that’s what my mom always got me whenever I failed an audition and I still love them to this day. It tastes like rejection and tartar sauce.

Andrew: Mine is Taco Bell. I remember the first time I was in LA having a bunch of generals at Warner Bros. and there is a Taco Bell across the street.

Drew: I know it so well.

Andrew: So I had all of these generals which are the grossest meetings where you just chat with people and they all promise you jobs and then they never happen but I went to that Taco Bell and ate my weight in burritos because I needed something to get me out of this.

Drew: I still to this day think I comfort myself with creamy carbs, it’s all filet-o-fish related because all the things I turn to are like creamy pasta, and I’m like that’s sort of tartar sauce flavored. Oh is it a carb and cream put it on me now, it’s like a weight blanket coping mechanism.

Andrew On His Failed Attempt To Guest Host On “Today”

https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/WO8l7d8DHcn1

Andrew: It’s hard to do this. I mean I was asked to guest host on the Today Show at one point and it was so exciting but I just wasn’t good at it. Thandie Newton was the guest, I think she was promoting West World,  I was just so excited because she’s Thandie Newton. She’s beautiful and smells good and is sitting there. So they started and I was like, ‘Thandie Newton star of West World,’ then I was like, ‘Hey.’ I had no questions. I was like, ‘What’s up?’ So we just chatted but I just remember very vividly I was like, ‘Well where do you hang out?’ And Hoda Kotb was next to me like what is he doing? By the way never been asked back to the Today Show.

Jemele Hill on The NBA Finals & The Lakers Taking The Title

https://drewbarrymoreshow.cimediacloud.com/r/82CZovC8Pogs

Jemele: I think the bubble has been a resounding success. Like a lot of people I had my doubts but the NBA has been a real leader in terms of showing a blueprint to how we can still enjoy professional sports even being among this pandemic, I think it’s brought a lot of light….For a lot of people just the sports aspects of this to see the Lakers in this position, I think it means a lot to folks. I know it feels like it happened a long time ago because of everything we’ve experienced but Kobe Bryant died earlier this year and that was a devastating loss in all of sports. So for Lakers to be in this position to be able to win a title to honor his memory I think is very important and special to not just Lakers fans but all sports fans period….The Lakers are going to cakewalk to this title.
