Drew: When Olivia called you to talk to you about doing this, telling you it was your model and your Lilith fair that she wanted to mimic and be inspired by and catalyze on.
Sarah: I’ve been waiting for someone to do this. And when she phoned me up, I was like, yes.
Drew: Does it feel good to be acknowledged too?
Sarah: Absolutely. I mean, it’s wonderful validation.
Drew: I thought the way she talked about you and doing this was just so wonderful.
Sarah: Yeah, she carries so much power within that little person of her like she’s an old soul and there is so much reverence and respect for who have come before her. Everything she’s doing is perfectly embodies my hopes and my dreams for what this could be when someone new took it on and I’m just so heartened.
Drew on Being at Lilith Fair with Sarah

Drew: I went to Lilith. In fact, I saw you backstage. I have a little story, so someone I know, I won’t say who, I’ll keep their name private, they walked out, with a, a vegetable platter. I don’t know if they were trying to take out the trash. I’m not sure what their intention was, but it was full and, and still had some abundance, and, and I remember hearing you say, ‘You know what? No, no, let’s not throw that away. There’s still good stuff in there’ and I literally was like, see, she is the real deal. She is noticing every detail and making sure that everything is done to the best of its ability. It’s not just celebrating women and, and saving animals, it’s saving the planet. I mean, Sarah McLachlan, you are like an incredible, aware, fastidious human being. Where does that come from?
Sarah: I have no idea. I mean, I am a little bit of a one-thirty-second of an inch kind of person. Like I get a little bit too myopic and control freaky sometimes with the details, at the same time, I can sort of, you know, just enjoy big picture too. Like I live very much in the moment, I think, always too.
Drew: So I took it as you walk the walk and you talk the talk. I immediately fell so in love with you because I was like, she is the most real deal that ever like lived.
Sarah & Drew on Bringing Their Daughters to Daisy Chain Fields Festival & Parenting
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/f3PIohekjPWN
Sarah: It’s one of the most exciting things I have brought my daughters and my stepdaughters here and one of her friends and just having them witness women supporting women and lifting each other up. I mean, I think that is one of the most powerful messages and successes that Lilith created and Olivia’s doing that again here like just showing what we can achieve when we work together so to have this brief moment where there is joy and sunshine and celebration in our successes and our collective successes, it’s powerful stuff, and I’m so happy to meet your daughter. You got two girls?
Drew: Yes.
Sarah: How old are they now?
Drew: 14 and 12.
Sarah: You are in it.
Drew: I am so in it. Any advice?
Sarah: Oh God. It gets better. It does. I mean, a 14, I think between 13 and 15 was the worst because their, their hormones are going crazy and there’s also they all, you know, they wanted their cell phones so badly and I mean it was like it was Indie was almost 14 before she was the last kid in the class I’m like I drive you everywhere. You don’t need this, but it became about social media and stuff, and she was kind of the 1st generation that really got caught up in it.
Drew: Yes, I’m in it. Thank you for the advice, but they’re here and that feels like things are going well for now.
