Douglas’ Apology of the Week: Dougie Apologizes for Chewing on Eva Mendes’ Dress
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/p1fbnPnqB2YB
Drew: Dougie is here to represent too.
Ryan: I heard Doug was after Eva last time I was here. I have heard all about Doug.
Drew: I have visual evidence to corroborate that rumor.
Eva: You guys, he's like biting the little look at the roses, Stella McCartney's gonna really love this, by the way.
Drew: Douglas, you're lucky she's such a good person. She's being cool with it, so we like to issue apologies from Douglas personally on this show, so here is Dougie's latest apology.
I'm sorry to munch on the dress of Eva Mendes.
Ryan Gosling on His Daughters Impacting His Movie Decisions Including “Barbie"
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/qO8ZjIr2LCoJ
Drew: I love your wife so much.
Ryan: I do too. Drew, we have so much in common.
Drew: And we're both in the two girls club.
Ryan: Yes, it's also the most fun I've ever had in my life. They're the funniest people I've ever met, and they helped me so much and I feel, you know, like for instance this film, you know, it's like I never would have done this if it weren't for them. I never dreamed of making something this good, you know, and it's no coincidence that it's because they're in my life, you know.
Drew: Because I have heard a rumor that they were asking you to do Barbie and you came across Barbies like with your daughters, and that was sort of a trigger for you of like maybe I'm meant to do this. Is that rumor true?
Ryan: Yeah, I was, well, the, the script was so brilliantly observed by Greta, you know, I think at first I was like no, right, it was easier to say no than to say yes.
Drew: Why would you say no out of curiosity.
Ryan: To doing Barbie? Just like, how do you play a 70 year old crotchless doll who's like shirtless all the time and it just was like it was a lot, but I, when I watched my girls you know it was so funny because, well, first of all on a fun, on a deeper level they were using the Barbies to understand things that were going on in the world around them. I mean for instance what was one thing was like someone had arthritis they heard the word arthritis and then I and I saw that Ken, they're having a funeral for Ken and I was like why, why is Ken dead and they're like, he's, he died, he had arthritis, he died of arthritis and it was so beautiful because they don't know what, but they wanted to understand it and they could put it into this world and that's what Greta was doing. She was taking these kind of larger you know, harder to understand themes and using dolls to sort of act them out but at the same time then I saw Ken face down in the mud in the backyard beside a squished lemon, and I was like, I understand him now. I can play him I know I, he like they had no interest in him in a, in a beautiful way. So I thought, I, I get this.
Drew: OK, this makes so much sense.
Ryan on the Motivation Behind His New Movie “Project Hail Mary”
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/gmJCsgUL5Klr
Ryan: We've been so saturated with apocalyptic narratives for like the last decade that they almost have become inevitable it feels like predestined at this point and I think what he's what he's done is and what he does with his work is he creates an opportunity to pivot away from this idea that maybe the future isn't something to fear rather just to be figured out, you know, I really wanted that for my kids, you know, I just feel like everything is trying to scare them and I wanted something like your film, like we had your movie, right? We had ‘ET’ we all had this core memory film that we could see in a movie theater, we could see with other people, we could see that we laugh at the same things, we cry at the same things and I really, what a gift to be given the opportunity to make this film and to make one of those, you know, Eva and I look for those films for, for our family and there aren't many and I feel like it's a gift from our family to yours, you know, it, it is an experience that we wanted to have that we've been having for 6 years and now like very feel very lucky to be able to share it.
Fast Five with Rocky: Drew Teaches Ryan How To Scream Like Gertie, Why Drew Loves Flowers, Favorite Gifts & More
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/qel70hPPixQk
Rocky: Gertie brave. Ryan need better scream. Drew, you teach Ryan scream like Gertie question.
Ryan: No way.
Drew: It turned into more of Cindy Brady than Gertie, but we get the gist.
Ryan: This is so surreal.
Drew: Rocky, what's your next question?
Rocky: Rocky, make gift for friends at talk show. Rocky, release gift now.
Drew: Rocky brought something for us? Oh my gosh, there's a question in the capsule, by the way, this is like old mailroom stuff. Ryan, I'm gonna need your assistance on this one.
Ryan: Righty tighty lefty loosey.
Drew: This is why I love flowers because of ‘ET’ because the flowers represented his health.
If they were dying, he was dying, if he was alive, the flowers were erect and abundant and happy. All right, what was the most special gift you both ever get? I mean, for me it would always be something from my daughters.
Ryan: Yeah, my girls leave me, they put things in my shoes or in my pockets or something, so like just the other day I was like when it was like a french fries that was like squishy french fries or something with a face on it or it's in my shoes. Those are the best, the like the shoe presents.
Rocky: Ryan and Rocky love dance, one of Rocky's favorite parts of the movie. Drew and Ryan dance with Rocky now.
Drew: OK, Rocky, next question.
Rocky: What are those humans watching you together talk? Many, many humans watching you together. Why do they watch you so long? Creepy, creepy.
Ryan: Don't. Rocky, that's not, we don't call the audience creepy, OK? That's, he doesn't understand our customs, so sometimes he needs to, he needs a little help.
Drew: And yet if it wasn't for his, and your banter, the whole film wouldn't work. So alright, Rocky, what's your last question?
Rocky: Ryan taught Rocky to hug. Drew big time hugger with humans. Drew now hug with humans from movie. Drew can hug big. Go do big hug, big hug.
Ryan: This is nice. Rocky doesn't, Rocky in the movie, he goes like, when do you know a hug is over? And I'm like, you just know. And he's like, is it over? And I go, not yet. Do you have a theory on when this is over? No, it's never over.
Lionel Boyce on One Day of Shooting Turning into A Month
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/udpkSWpb1tKK
Drew: Lionel, what was your role to be in the movie because there's an interesting story there.
Lionel: You know, I think initially it was supposed to be there for one day, but, I remember it came in they were like, yes, the movie was everything about it sounded really cool and I was like I'm down to hang out with Chris, Phil, and Ryan for a day. I heard Sandra was a part of it and I think when Chris and Phil found out I was down they started adding a little bit more just to play around, so a lot of it was improv and I credit these two guys and Ryan for building this relationship out and like giving space to like give Carl a little bit more in the movie. I definitely thought it was going to end up on the cutting floor.
Drew: How much time did you end up spending there?
Lionel: 1 month, about 1 month. It was supposed to be a day, then I spent a month in London.
