Demi Lovato on How a Made Up Character Named Luigi Helps Her Marriage
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/ULpYm7hFqHc3
Drew: How is everything? How is married life?
Demi: Oh, it's so much fun, you know, we just laugh and laugh and laugh together.
We have such a great connection and I joke that we could watch paint dry and still be entertained with one another.
Drew: I actually learned something that I would love to apply when I ever in the near far future get into a relationship myself I would like to do if I understand it correctly maybe you can teach me because I love this kind of approach in love which is if you guys need something from each other or something didn't get done, do you call each other like character names? How, how does this work? Because I wanna learn.
Demi: We have this fictional character named Luigi. And Luigi, if Luigi didn't take out the trash, I gently nudge my husband and say, babe, Luigi didn't take out the trash, like what are we gonna do about that? And he's like, oh, you know what, darn, Luigi, like, let, let me get on that. So, it's just like a gentle approach to say like, babe, can you do the dishes or can you do something? So if we fictionalize and third party someone, yeah, so like it takes the blame out of like coming to someone with blame, you know what I mean, or an attack or an attack, yeah, I love this.
Drew: How did you guys like discover that?
Demi: I think the Luigi thing came from like an Instagram post that I saw and was like I'm gonna use that, but I think learning how to communicate with one another is just something that's come naturally to us. We, I've had the toxic stuff in the past that I don't want or need anymore and this is my forever relationship and I wanna treat that with as much grace and compassion as possible.
Demi on Her New Cookbook
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/DcVJNH9IepL1
Demi: I made this cookbook with the reader in mind that is in recovery from disordered eating.
I used to have an eating disorder and I'm in recovery from that, and I decided to step foot into the kitchen to help rebuild my relationship with food, and it's brought me so much joy and so much freedom with food that I wanted to bring that same joy and freedom to the reader that may be struggling or is in recovery from disordered eating and looking to take the next steps in their recovery or you know if you're just wanting to learn how to cook, you know this this these recipes are really simple, really easy.
Drew: I've read the book front to back. I'm not kidding, they're delicious recipes they're crave worthy unctious, delicious food.
Demi on Camp Rock 3 & Performing with Jonas Brothers
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/fdgkZRGZ9X4Y
Drew: The ‘Camp Rock 3’ with the Jonas Brothers. People are so excited about this, and do you feel that kind of magnetic pull if it's something that maybe doesn't fit into your life, is it easier to say no to, or if there's something that's like, I have built this, I have put my time, I have friendships, I have history here.
Demi: I think with ‘Camp Rock 3’ you know, I'm a producer on it and so it's, it's taking a different approach. I'm taking a different approach to it, you know, being, behind the scenes and working on it and, and watching the new cast step into our shoes, and I'm really excited to see them shine and, you know, it will always mean so much to me, ‘Camp Rock’ and ‘Camp Rock 2’ I, those movies changed my life and I'm just happy to be involved and yeah, you'll just have to wait and see.
Drew: Well, everybody will because the second you stepped out on stage with the Jonas Brothers, like every news feed was flooded with it, and it just shows like there are new audiences and then the audiences that loved it in the first place were still here and like waiting for it.
Demi: It's so nostalgic for me and it was so much fun to perform with them. We hadn't performed those songs together and I think like maybe 15 years, maybe over 15 years.
Demi on the Poot Meme and Learning to be in on the Joke
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/RG191JWoImjH
Demi: Something about this era just wanted me, I just wanted to reclaim the narrative and, you know, be in on the joke and, and so for Halloween I dressed up as Poot and the Internet lore behind that is that it's my twin that I locked in the basement, it was a photo that was taken of me outside of an event, and for the longest time I thought that it was just a really bad angle of myself, and I was like, at first I was like, oh no, like this really bad angle is, is all over the internet and people are laughing at me and someone was like, babe, it's photoshopped, and I was like, oh, OK, now I can laugh at it.
Drew: You are a very big inspiration to me.
Demi: Oh wow, thank you.
Drew: And I know that you love mugs.
Demi: I do love mugs. It's my favorite dish.
Drew: We have a little surprise, but it's hold on. OK, there it is. OK, so I got you two mugs. For you and your man.
Demi: I'm so excited.
Drew: They're so simple, little, and silly, so I should have prefaced with that, but we have, we have Poot and Jute.
Drew & Tori Spelling on Nepo Babies Conversation
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/qW1lOfdQ0tRH
Drew: We didn't have the term Nepo baby at the time, but I would get so pissed off because people would be like, oh well she's in the show because of her dad, and I'm like, no, that's not true, and Donna is a badass and everybody loves her, so shut the hell up.
Tori: Wow, you should have been at the Donna Martin graduates protest, by the way, I totally was in the show because of my dad, but, I created that character for real. I was like friend number one when my dad put me in it.
Drew: And look what happened. It evolved into one of the major castings, and yes, I'm glad that he inducted you in there too, but it didn't necessarily mean it was gonna work. You made it work.
Tori: I did. Oh, that's still hard for me to hear. It is, it's hard. I've had such a career based on people being like, oh, rich girl, she can't act, it's her dad.
Drew: Yeah, how do you, how do you tolerate that?
Tori: I work even harder, you know, anytime people knock me down, I'm like, OK, I believe no is the first word towards yes, so like, oh, I can't do this, yeah, I'm going to.
Tori Spelling on Finding Out About Her “Scream 7” Easter Egg in the Theater
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/G2CHoBBvWvcV
Drew: OK, I'm a ‘Scream’ girl. Wait, how did you find out that you were in ‘Scream 7?’
Tori: I got an audition for ‘Scream 1’…I did, as, yeah, as Sydney Prescott, and that was one of the sides was, oh my god, they're telling you to make a movie about your life, and she's like, yeah, but with my luck they'll cast Tori Spelling. And I was like, jaw drop yeah.
Drew: And now you're like in ‘Scream 7.’
Tori: Yes, so scream 2, they were like, Wes Craven wants to meet with you to talk about being in ‘Scream 2’ playing, you know, now you got the part in Neve Campbell. It's gonna be the movie Stab, a movie within a movie. And I was like, it was, that's the first start of me being like self-deprecating and owning it and being like, OK, people think things about me, great, so I'm gonna use that to my advantage. So I went in and he was. like didn't think I'd take the part. I had already been like, I'm totally doing the part. And yeah, did that, and that took on a life of its own, always being like the girl on stab, Tori Spelling, the Easter eggs, and all the movies.
Drew: And then you're an Easter egg in 7. And did you find out about that through.
Tori: In the theater. Well, in all fairness, one of my biggest fans, DM me like two days before I saw it, opening night. He's like, there's an Easter egg of you. And I was like, oh, good to mention, and he's like, I'm not gonna tell you, just go watch it. So I took all my kids, it's their favorite movie, nothing to do with me, of course. So took them all to the theater and then I didn't know what was gonna happen, but they show a picture of me and like a zoom in and I just sat there like looking around and they're all just like staring at the screen. So then afterwards I was like, guys, did you see me in the film? No reaction.
