September 30, 2025 – In an exclusive interview with INSIDE EDITION, the young Chiefs fan at the center of the viral headband incident is speaking out. Joey Masters was seen in a widely shared video during a recent NFL game where an adult Giants fan, dubbed on social media as “Kansas City Karen,” appeared to take a trademarked headband from quarterback Patrick Mahomes meant for him, sparking national outrage. Joey was at the stadium celebrating his tenth birthday when Nina Miller took the headband away.

“I really wanted that headband…I think I should get it back,” Masters told INSIDE EDITION.

INSIDE EDITION connected Masters with Nina Miller, who directly apologized to the young boy and said she would send him the headband. “I’m sorry honey, I really am. I swear. Maybe you don’t believe me, but I’m sorry baby…I’ve been crying the past two days. I feel bad,” Miller stated.

“I believe you, thanks,” replied Masters.
