FORMER BACHELOR CLAYTON ECHARD SPEAKS OUT IN FIRST INTERVIEW SINCE HE SAYS HE WAS THE VICTIM OF A FAKE PREGNANCY SCAM

October 30, 2025 - In an exclusive interview airing tonight, INSIDE EDITION speaks with former Bachelor star Clayton Echard, in his first television interview since he says he became the target of a fake pregnancy scam. An Arizona woman, Laura Owens, allegedly fabricated ultrasound images and falsely claimed to be carrying Echard’s twins. Echard opens up to INSIDE EDITION about what happened, their encounter and reveals that two additional men have since come forward to him, claiming Owens made similar false pregnancy accusations against them.

Echard says he and Owens had a romantic fling after she reached out to him about buying a house that he was selling, telling INSIDE EDITION’s Jim Moret, “I told her that last night was a mistake, I shouldn't have crossed that professional boundary.”

He says they never had intercourse and therefore he could not have gotten her pregnant. “I'm dealing with the most crazy individual I've ever met in my life,” he said. “She was just taking medications in order to appear bloated…she wasn't pregnant at all.”

Issuing a warning, Echard states, “She’s still probably looking for her next victim,” adding that he’s since been informed by two other men who say they were in a similar situation with Owens.

Owens has been indicted on seven felony counts and has pleaded not guilty. Her case is set to go to trial in January.
