New York, NY – February 22, 2023 – INSIDE EDITION has obtained exclusive video of an alligator attacking 85-year-old grandmother Gloria Serge, who was walking her dog by a lake in Fort Pierce, FL. The horrifying drama unfolded at a retirement community and was caught on a wildlife camera. In the exclusive airing Wednesday, INSIDE EDITION will air a carefully selected portion of the attack.

INSIDE EDITION’s Steven Fabian also speaks with the victim’s neighbor, 76-year-old Carole Thomas, who can be heard in a just-released 911 call also obtained by INSIDE EDITION. Thomas watched from her lakefront home as Serge was attacked while walking her beloved dog, Trooper.

“It’s horrible for her family,” Thomas tells INSIDE EDITION “It’s just horrible, horrible. And her friends, I spoke to a couple of her friends yesterday who are devastated.”

Thomas says she fetched a pole to try to pull the stricken woman to shore. Thomas adds, “There is no way I could have gotten to her sooner.”

The 11-foot gator was a neighborhood fixture, and even had a name, Henry. He was captured by trappers and euthanized. Authorities are warning pet owners not to walk their dogs near Florida’s alligator infested waters.
