Erica Messer has been a longtime fixture in the CRIMINAL MINDS world, having been with the series since its premiere in 2005. She rose through the ranks as a writer to become the hit program’s showrunner and executive producer. Also, she created the spinoff, CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS, for which she also served as showrunner and executive producer.

Prior to CRIMINAL MINDS, Messer served as a writer on series such as “Alias,” “The O.C.” and “Charmed.” She began her career as an assistant in the drama department at Fox before moving on to work on the television series “Party of Five,” where she learned the ins and outs of how a television show runs by assisting the show’s executive producers. Recently, she launched her own production company, Erica Messer Productions, and is focused on spearheading projects for the 2018-2019 television season.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Messer spent the latter half of her childhood in Maryland. She attended Florida State University and Salisbury University. Currently, Messer resides in the Los Angeles area. Follow her on Twitter @ecmess.
