CBS PRIMETIME, LATE NIGHT AND NEWS RATINGS HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK ENDING SUNDAY, MAY 10

 

According to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Sunday, May 10 (week 33 of the 2019-2020 broadcast season), CBS attracted 5.88 million viewers (#1 for the 13th consecutive week, winning every night last week for the first time since 2017 and being +2.1 million viewers ahead of the nearest competition). The Network also was first in key demos with a 1.1 in adults 25-54 and 0.7 in adults 18-49. The week’s top show was 60 MINUTES. PRIMETIME

On Monday, CBS was first in viewers (6.20m). ALL RISE, which finished second (5.09m), was the night’s #1 new series in viewers. At 10:00 PM, BULL was first in viewers (6.87m) again.

On Tuesday, CBS topped the viewer race (6.72m) behind an NCIS encore (7.20m), which was the night’s #1 program in viewers. At 9:00 PM, an encore of FBI also led the way in viewers with 6.33 million, followed by FBI: MOST WANTED, which won at 10:00 PM with 6.62 million viewers.

On Wednesday, CBS was again first in viewers (6.56m) with its largest Wednesday audience of the season. A two-hour SURVIVOR (8:00-10:00 PM) was the top show of the night in viewers (7.58m), followed by SEAL TEAM, which won the 10:00 PM time period with 4.54 million viewers.

On Thursday, CBS was first in viewers (5.54m) behind a night-leading encore of YOUNG SHELDON (6.45m) and the top 10:00 PM show TOMMY (5.34m).

On Friday night, CBS was first for the 31st time in 33 weeks with 6.24 million viewers. MACGYVER was #1 in its time period (5.77m) as was MAGNUM P.I. (6.87m) and a special MAGNUM P.I. at 10:00 PM (6.09m).

CBS won Saturday in viewers (3.08m) behind two encore episodes of CRIMETIME (3.04m and 2.60m) and a win at 10:00 PM with the night’s leading show, 48 HOURS (3.59m).

On Sunday, CBS was first again for the 13th consecutive Sunday in viewers (6.58m). 60 MINUTES was the evening’s most-watched show with 9.53 million viewers, while special movie presentation FORREST GUMP attracted 5.59 million viewers, up from last week’s broadcast of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

LATE NIGHT

THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT with special guest New York Governor Andrew Cuomo had a tremendous night last Thursday, May 7, scoring 3.85 million viewers, beating its nearest competition by +80% (versus 2.14m), according to Nielsen live plus 3-day ratings. This was THE LATE SHOW’s largest Thursday audience in almost two months (since March 12, 2020).

60 MINUTES was the #1 program of any kind in viewers for the week in primetime, drawing 9.53 million viewers with 1.45 million of them adults 25-54. It was the fifth time this season 60 MINUTES was television’s #1 primetime program with viewers. It was the 24th time over 27 telecasts that it made the Nielsen top 10. It was the 12th consecutive time it finished in the top five and the 16th time this season. 60 MINUTES was up +22% in viewers and up +9% in adults 25-54, and even in adults 18-49 compared to the same night last year.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH NORAH O’DONNELL was the only evening news program to grow from the previous week with adults 25-54. The broadcast amassed an audience of 6.86 million viewers with 1.31 million of them adults 25-54 for the week. Based on the gross audience (including a 4:00 AM rebroadcast), the CBS EVENING NEWS is up +22% in viewers and up +14% with adults 25-54 compared to the same week a year ago. Each day of the week CBS EVENING NEWS was in the top four telecasts for all of CBS.

CBS THIS MORNING was the only morning news program to grow from the previous week in adults 25-54. CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.07 million viewers, 688,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic. Season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING has cut the gap in viewers with “Today” by 3%. CBS THIS MORNING has cut the gap with adults 25-54 for the season with “Today” by 6%.

FACE THE NATION was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program and posted the most year-to-year growth in viewers and was the only broadcast up from a year ago in adults 25-54. The broadcast delivered 3.83 million viewers with 729,000 of them among the adults 25-54 demographic. FACE THE NATION was up +17% in viewers and up +14% in adults 24-54 (more than any other competitor percentagewise in both measures), compared to the same week a year ago. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is up +5% in viewers over the same period a year ago, more than any competitor percentagewise.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING was the #1 Sunday morning news program for the 590th consecutive week in total viewers. The broadcast delivered 5.95 million viewers with 1.05 million of them adults 25-54. CBS SUNDAY MORNING also marked its 186th consecutive week as the #1 Sunday morning news program with adults 25-54. CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +6% in viewers, compared to the same week a year ago.

CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY was the only Saturday morning news program to grow from the previous week and over last year in all key categories. The broadcast delivered 2.24 million viewers with 503,000 of them in the adults 25-54 demographic. CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY was up +14% in viewers when compared to the same day last season, the most percentagewise of any competitor. CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY was up +7% in adults 25-54 compared to the same day last year. Season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY is up +3% in viewers when compared to last season, the only Saturday morning network newscast drawing a larger audience than a year ago.

48 HOURS was Saturday’s #1 primetime program with viewers. The broadcast delivered 3.59 million viewers with 767,000 of them in the 25-54 demographic. 48 HOURS was up +25% in viewers and up +20% in adults 25-54, compared to the same night a year ago.
